Sobre Este Evento

Descrição

Imagine spending five days in Big Sur's wild coastal landscape, your hands deep in creative work, surrounded by fellow seekers exploring the intersection of art, meaning, and connection. Creative Catalyst is an immersive mixed-media workshop designed for anyone called to discover how the act of making activates something essential in us—a sense of wholeness, belonging, and aliveness that transcends technical skill.

Guided by artists Dana Albany and Michael Hopkins, you'll work with repurposed and found materials—recycled glass, metal, wood, plastics, paper, photographs, fabrics, and objects rescued from the margins. Whether you're sculpting, creating mosaic, or collaging, this creative workshop honors both solitary expression and the alchemy that happens when artists work together. Set at the legendary Esalen Institute, perched above the Pacific, the environment itself becomes part of the practice: a contemplative container where creativity becomes a form of inquiry, connection, and meaning-making.

This is not a technical skills class. It's an exploration of how making art—with intention and community—transforms how we see ourselves and each other. All skill levels welcome. No experience necessary.

What to Expect

Over five days, you'll move through cycles of individual creative work and collaborative group projects. Each day invites you deeper into the materials, the process, and the questions underneath: What wants to be made through me? How does creating with others shift what I thought was possible?

The Art Barn becomes your studio—a space where boundaries between "artist" and "non-artist" dissolve. You'll work with your hands, engage your intuition, and discover that creativity is less about producing a finished product and more about the consciousness you bring to the work itself. Group projects build community while individual pieces allow for personal expression.

By the end of the week, you'll leave with completed artwork, a deepened relationship to your own creative nature, and connections forged through shared creative practice. Many participants describe the experience as both grounding and expansive—a reset for the soul.
