Ardaas Bha-ee Mantra: Prayeras Witnessed Healing

Ardaas Bha-ee is a Sikh mantra meditation that functions as a soul's prayer offered to the Divine through the witnessing presence of Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das. The mantra works not through belief alone, but through the act of sitting down and actually praying—the devotional commitment itself catalyzes the prayer's reception. Practitioners chant this mantra to align with the soul's inherent knowledge of truth and to invoke compassionate, healing, and transformative energies that support the soul's deepest wishes and spiritual evolution.

What Does Ardaas Bha-ee Mean, Word by Word?

The mantra breaks down into distinct Sanskrit and Punjabi components that encode specific energetic movements. "Ardaas" means prayer—not mere supplication, but the soul's direct communication with the Divine. "Bha-ee" means "it has happened" or "it is done." This shift in verb tense is critical: the speaker is not *asking* for prayer to happen, but *declaring* that prayer has already been given, already been offered. The two names that follow—Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das—are not invocations to distant figures, but calls to what Snatam Kaur describes as "guardian angel-like energies" (around 1:05s in the original session).

For those outside the Sikh tradition, understanding these as universal healing presences makes the mantra accessible. Guru Amar Das carries the energy of family healing, relationship mending, and the compassion that witnesses relational pain. Guru Ram Das embodies transformation, miracles, and deep healing work. The final two words—"Sachi Sahib"—translate as "Truth Verified" or "Truth Sustained." Here "sachi" is truth itself, and "sahib" is an attestation or support—the idea that truth is not merely spoken but *held* and *witnessed* as real.

How Does the Mantra Work If I'm Not Sikh?

Snatam Kaur emphasizes that the mantra's power does not depend on sectarian identity (around 1:23s). Rather, it functions through what she calls "core energetics"—the underlying vibrations of compassion, healing, and love that the mantra carries. The specific Gurus are doorways, but the real work happens in the feeling-body and the breath. When you chant "Ardaas Bha-ee," you are not claiming loyalty to a religion; you are aligning your own soul's vibration with frequencies of healing and witnessing that exist independent of cultural context.

Think of the mantra as a sonic technology that opens a channel. You don't need to understand every word intellectually; your nervous system responds to the sound, and the meaning lives in the vibration itself. This is why Snatam teaches breath work and yoga postures *alongside* the chant—the body becomes an antenna, tuning in to frequencies of truth and compassion.

What Is the Role of the Devotee's Prayer in Making the Mantra Work?

Here lies one of the most practical insights Snatam offers: "95% of the resistance to praying comes just from the devotee not actually sitting down and praying" (around 1:01s). The prayer is not intercepted by cosmic bureaucracy or conditional on worthiness. The moment the devotee commits to the act—sits down, breathes, speaks or chants the mantra—the prayer enters the universe. It is *heard*. Once given, it cannot be unheard.

This reframes the spiritual challenge entirely. You are not waiting for permission, clarity, or the right emotional state. You are simply, courageously, sitting down and giving your prayer. The resistance—procrastination, doubt, the sense that it won't work—is the real obstacle. Overcoming that takes more spiritual power than the prayer itself. So the mantra practice becomes a training ground: each time you show up and chant, you prove to yourself that you can give your prayer, that the universe is listening, and that your soul's desire matters.

How Does the Witnessing of Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das Change the Prayer?

The mantra proposes a three-stage witnessing process. First, the devotee gives the prayer. It is real, spoken, offered. Second, Guru Amar Das receives it and witnesses it with the light of compassion and family healing. He does not change it or judge it; he holds it in love. Third, the prayer moves to Guru Ram Das, who witnesses it again in the light of transformation and divine healing. Then, finally, the prayer reaches "Sachi Sahib"—it is received by Truth itself, verified as true, and supported.

This is not a prayer of petition alone. It is a prayer that becomes *real* through being witnessed with love. Snatam describes this as the soul recognizing itself: "the soul abides in truth, the soul knows truth, the soul is truth" (around 1:19s). When your prayer is witnessed by compassionate, healing presences, your own soul's truth becomes visible—not just to the universe, but to yourself. You remember that you are already held, already seen, already part of the truth you are seeking.

What Yoga and Breathwork Practices Support the Chanting?

Snatam integrates several preparatory and embodying practices into the session. Before chanting, she guides practitioners through **alternate nostril breathing**—one technique that clears mental chatter and brings the nervous system into balance. The right nostril is associated with solar energy and action; the left with lunar energy and receptivity. By breathing through each side, you create equilibrium.

She also teaches **Venus Lock**—a hand position where fingers interweave with thumbs crossed—which creates a subtle circuit of energy that helps contain and direct the vibrational work of the chant. During the chanting itself, practitioners sit upright on their sit bones with a tall, straight spine, keeping the energy channel open from root to crown.

Later in the session, she introduces **Breath of Fire**, a rapid, rhythmic belly breath that generates internal heat and intensity, deepening the mantra's impact on the nervous system and the subtle body. These practices are not optional embellishments; they prepare the body-mind to receive and hold the prayer at a cellular level.

Why Does Snatam Teach Both the Words and the Experience?

Snatam makes a deliberate pedagogical choice: "I want to take a few moments to just teach about it and talk about it and contemplate it and then we're going to just forget everything and just go into the experience of it" (around 13:12s). This two-phase approach honors both the thinking mind and the feeling body.

The intellectual understanding—what the words mean, how the prayer moves through the energetic chain—gives the rational mind something to hold onto. It creates a bridge between skepticism and openness. But eventually, the thinking stops. You chant. The vibration takes over. The meaning drops from the head into the heart, and from the heart into the entire being. This is why she says you don't have to get "too literal"—the soul understands frequencies that the thinking mind cannot translate.

What Is the Soul's Prayer According to This Teaching?

Snatam implies that the soul has an inherent prayer, a fundamental wish or alignment that exists beneath personal desire. When you chant "Ardaas Bha-ee," you are not imposing a prayer onto yourself or the universe; you are tuning into the prayer that is already there, waiting to be voiced. The soul's prayer is always for truth, for alignment with the Divine, for healing and wholeness.

By invoking the witnessing energies of Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das, you create a container where that soul-prayer can be heard, held, and actualized. The mantra operates as a translation device: it takes the soul's knowing, which exists beyond language, and gives it form through sound and breath so that the material world and the spiritual world can recognize each other.

Where to Go From Here

If this teaching resonates, the next step is to actually practice. Join one of Snatam Kaur's weekly Mantra and Meditation classes through Kirtan and Kundalini, her online sacred music and yoga school. She teaches every Wednesday at 1 PM, offering a dedicated space to explore a different mantra or deepen the same one over several weeks. The school also offers courses in harmonium, tabla, kundalini yoga, and other meditative practices taught by skilled faculty.

If you want to experience the shorter version of "Ardaas Bha-ee," listen to "Soul Prayer" from Snatam's album "Nirankaar," which includes the mantra accompanied by an invocation. The practice is not intellectual; it is relational. Show up, sit down, breathe, and give your prayer. The rest will follow.

[2:33] sitting with a tall straight spine is

[2:36] best to your capacity bringing your

[2:39] hands to the center of the chest and

[2:40] let's just take a moment to rub the

[2:42] palms together

[2:44] and take some deep breaths as you're

[2:46] rubbing the palms together into the base

[2:48] of the spine inhale deeply

[4:59] okay

[5:01] wonderful

[5:03] relaxing the hands down

[5:08] and let's just take a moment to set the

[5:10] intention

[5:14] for this class to come into presence to

[5:16] come into awareness

[5:22] and invite you to take your right hand

[5:24] and

[5:25] we're going to have the fingers pointing

[5:27] straight up and you're going to take

[5:28] this thumb and cover the right nostril

[5:32] we'll inhale through the left long and

[5:34] deep

[5:38] and then

[5:39] curving over with your pinky cover the

[5:42] left nostril and exhale

[5:45] through the right

[5:50] and then once again covering the right

[5:52] nostril with the thumb inhale through

[5:54] the left

[5:55] and let's begin a nice

[5:59] steady deep breath

[6:38] and as the wine as the mind perhaps

[6:40] wanders

[6:46] you can bring it back to the breath

[6:54] so the the mind

[6:56] wandering

[6:59] wandering mind becomes a winder

[7:02] kind of winds you up

[7:04] so bring yourself back to the breath

[7:36] and i invite you to set your intention

[7:41] and really this

[7:43] this bowing to the divine guru dave

[7:45] divine teacher

[7:48] this essence and this energy is within

[7:50] you

[7:52] truly within you i invite you to

[7:55] just imagine that

[7:57] for a moment so how

[7:59] would you sit

[8:02] how would you

[8:05] contemplate

[8:06] how would you breathe

[8:09] if you truly believe this and just try

[8:11] it out truly believing

[8:16] absolute divine

[8:20] absolute wisdom

[8:29] and let's make this the exhale through

[8:31] the right nostril

[8:35] and then you're going to take

[8:36] your right hand and then cover the right

[8:38] nostril and now you're going to inhale

[8:41] through the left

[8:44] oh we have been sorry okay we're going

[8:46] to switch sides sorry

[8:48] cover the left nostril inhale to the

[8:50] right

[8:54] exhale through the left

[9:00] and continue

[9:02] inhaling through the right nostril

[9:04] exhaling through the left

[10:03] inhaling through the right now still

[10:04] bringing in the sun energy

[10:07] exhaling through the left

[12:07] let's inhale through the right

[12:12] exhale through the left

[12:17] and release the hand inhale through both

[12:20] nostrils

[12:23] exhale through both nostrils

[12:25] and take a few moments to breathe

[12:50] ah

[12:55] okay

[12:58] so in this class we're going to chant

[13:01] the mantra

[13:05] and i want to take a few moments to

[13:08] just teach about it

[13:09] and talk about it

[13:14] and contemplate it and then we're going

[13:16] to

[13:19] just forget everything and just go into

[13:22] the experience of it

[13:25] so

[13:26] all right

[13:27] so let's

[13:28] first

[13:29] pull up the words

[13:33] why do we even do this part i ask my

[13:35] husband

[13:36] well

[13:38] the mind and the brain needs to have

[13:40] some kind of

[13:42] connection

[13:44] all right

[13:46] so this is the mantra that we're going

[13:48] to chant today

[13:53] so um

[13:57] i will say it and then so

[14:00] can you respond please and then do you

[14:03] want everyone to respond with me yes and

[14:05] everyone respond with so predict but

[14:08] respond with me yes

[14:09] and if you're on our zoom class then

[14:12] you'll have to remain muted um

[14:14] unfortunately

[14:15] we won't be able to hear you but

[14:17] we're going to imagine hearing you

[14:19] so here we are

[14:24] [Music]

[14:29] guru

[14:32] [Music]

[14:43] [Music]

[14:55] [Music]

[14:56] let's do it one more time

[15:01] [Music]

[15:29] okay wonderful

[15:31] thank you

[15:32] to my

[15:33] helper here

[15:36] all right and

[15:38] if you could could you scroll today

[15:42] so what i love to do is to look at the

[15:46] meaning of each of the words

[15:51] um

[15:53] and it's really just to understand the

[15:56] energetics

[15:58] the

[16:00] oh dear

[16:05] it's really just to understand the

[16:06] energetics of

[16:09] of the mantra and you can think of these

[16:11] mantras as

[16:16] ways that the soul and the heart can

[16:18] move

[16:20] so we don't have to get too literal if

[16:23] you know what i mean

[16:24] but so artas

[16:26] means prayer

[16:29] and then by

[16:30] has happened

[16:32] so this is really

[16:35] key because

[16:38] i think that

[16:40] 95

[16:42] of the

[16:43] the resistance to

[16:46] um

[16:49] to praying comes just from the devotee

[16:53] um not actually sitting down and praying

[16:56] um once the devotee sits down and prays

[16:59] then the work

[17:01] is done and and the

[17:04] the fact that the prayer has happened

[17:07] then the

[17:09] the prayer can be heard by the universe

[17:11] but getting to that place

[17:13] of

[17:14] okay i'm going to pray or

[17:16] remember oh i should pray or

[17:19] you know that is the challenge point

[17:21] really

[17:22] so by means it has happened

[17:25] when you're saying this you're saying

[17:26] the prayer has happened

[17:28] i have given this prayer

[17:31] and then we have two

[17:34] um

[17:35] guardian angels i like to call them for

[17:37] people that are not of the sikh

[17:38] tradition

[17:40] but for the sikh tradition they are they

[17:43] serve as our gurus guru ahmadas is the

[17:46] third guru guru ramdas is the fourth

[17:48] guru

[17:49] so guru amritas

[17:51] i like to call on him

[17:53] [Music]

[17:54] when i have

[17:56] issues of family

[17:57] or relationships

[17:59] and guru ramdas

[18:01] for

[18:02] issues of needing transformation and

[18:05] miracles and healing

[18:07] and they all all the gurus their ten

[18:09] gurus carry

[18:11] all of these energies but in particular

[18:13] i like i this is what i identify

[18:17] with

[18:18] so

[18:19] the prayers happen and then we give that

[18:21] prayer

[18:22] to guru amardas who simply witnesses

[18:27] it and then

[18:30] gives that prayer to guru ramdas who

[18:32] witnesses it in in the

[18:35] wisdom and light and being of those

[18:37] entities and those energies it's a

[18:39] witnessing

[18:46] [Music]

[18:51] and it's received by amritas

[18:56] and then

[18:58] the prayer has happened we give the

[19:00] prayer and then it moves to guru ramdas

[19:03] and the prayer is transferred to guru

[19:04] ramdas

[19:06] and then

[19:07] sachi

[19:08] sahib

[19:10] then the truth

[19:13] the truth can come forward sachi sahi

[19:16] and it is supported

[19:19] the sahih is it's

[19:22] there's an attestation there's there's

[19:24] it's marked as true there's a support so

[19:28] that sachi is the truth and this is

[19:32] the energy really of the soul

[19:35] the soul abides in truth the soul knows

[19:38] truth the soul is truth so sachi sahib

[19:42] the wishes of the soul

[19:44] comes to pass

[19:47] in this witnessing in this love

[19:50] of

[19:51] guru amardas and guru ramdas witnessing

[19:54] and holding

[19:57] in love the prayer that is coming from

[19:59] the devotee

[20:01] and

[20:02] again you don't have to have a

[20:04] relationship with guru ahmadas guru

[20:06] ramdas you can also

[20:10] feel just the love and the compassion

[20:14] and the healing energy

[20:17] holding and witnessing

[20:19] you know we put names on we have

[20:21] identity identification

[20:23] really in the end it's all about

[20:26] the core energetics and for me the core

[20:29] energetics of this mantra are about

[20:31] compassion about healing and love

[20:35] okay

[20:39] so

[20:41] we're going to

[20:43] um

[20:45] take these words and and just

[20:47] if you would please

[20:49] to my tech team copy the words and put

[20:52] them in the chat

[20:53] for our zoom class

[20:58] we are

[21:00] going to practice now some yoga and

[21:04] we'll come back to this mantra

[21:06] and we'll put the words in the chat now

[21:08] now yeah a lot later

[21:11] okay

[21:13] yeah because we're going to be we're

[21:15] going to be doing yoga and and feeling

[21:17] the chanting this is another way you can

[21:19] utilize

[21:20] chanting is to have it just we're going

[21:22] to have it lightly playing

[21:24] um to support us while we do our yoga

[21:26] practice

[21:28] as well as chanting it later

[21:32] okay so please come on to your yoga mats

[21:43] and

[21:45] if you can please come sitting into rock

[21:47] pose

[21:49] so sitting on your heels

[21:51] and

[21:53] for some of you this may not be

[21:55] comfortable or possible you can use a

[21:56] pillow to support yourself or even sit

[21:59] on a chair that's totally fine

[22:03] so what you're going to do is then bring

[22:05] your hands into what's called venus lock

[22:08] and you can do right thumb over the left

[22:12] to connect with your male energy or left

[22:15] thumb over right to connect with female

[22:17] energy

[22:19] so now what you're going to do is

[22:22] bring the arms parallel

[22:25] to the ground

[22:27] so extend it out

[22:29] and then you're going to inhale

[22:32] inhale hold the breath and pump the arms

[22:35] up and down three times with the breath

[22:38] held

[22:39] in so the arms come all the way down

[22:44] and then release so inhaling up

[22:48] and the arms come all the way down and

[22:50] then all the way up so let's do it

[22:52] together

[22:53] in

[22:56] yeah and then you stop at the parallel

[22:58] place inhale

[23:01] and now pump

[23:06] three times come back to parallel exhale

[23:10] inhale

[23:12] and pump the arms up and down three

[23:15] times

[23:19] wonderful

[23:56] it's okay

[24:20] okay doing beautifully keep up

[25:16] good now pump the arms 10 times with the

[25:19] breath held in

[25:22] if this is hard for you to complete 10

[25:24] then just go as much as you can

[25:27] but 10 times

[25:30] of pumping the arms up and down

[25:33] and the arms come back to parallel for

[25:34] your exhale

[25:37] inhale in parallel

[25:39] and pump 10 times at your own pace

[26:13] uh

[26:52] um

[27:12] okay and let's make this the last time

[27:25] and when you finish you can just simply

[27:27] finish the last cycle the last exhale

[27:30] and then relax the hands on the

[27:33] knees and just take a few moments to

[27:34] breathe

[27:48] and i really love these moments in

[27:50] between each exercise where you can just

[27:52] be the witness

[27:56] taking it all in

[28:02] just as guru ahmadas and guru ramdas do

[28:04] in this mantra

[28:08] so there's a spaciousness so bringing

[28:10] that spaciousness into your breath

[28:15] and into your awareness

[28:36] why did us

[28:41] [Music]

[28:46] taking some moments to breathe

[28:58] [Music]

[29:07] and let's inhale stretch the arms up

[29:09] nice and

[29:11] high

[29:13] and exhale circle the arms down

[29:16] wonderful and now come lying on to the

[29:19] back

[29:22] [Music]

[29:28] you're going to be on your back but

[29:29] you're going to bring your heels by your

[29:32] buttocks knees will be up towards the

[29:33] sky

[29:35] hands will be on the floor palms facing

[29:37] down

[29:39] and i'd like for you to just inhale

[29:41] raise the pelvis up high

[29:44] on this inhale

[29:45] exhale rolling the spine down vertebrae

[29:48] by vertebrae so the lowest vertebrae

[29:50] lands on the floor last rolls on the

[29:53] floor last inhale up

[29:55] exhale down

[29:57] now let's do this kind of slow

[29:59] and pause on the up position

[30:02] balance the pelvis

[30:05] and then exhale

[30:07] feeling your core

[30:16] [Music]

[30:27] [Music]

[30:33] school

[30:38] [Music]

[30:50] and the soul

[30:51] the soul

[30:52] can really

[30:53] actually be free can be free or

[30:57] when we are in balance

[31:00] so balancing the pelvic bone now

[31:03] coming into your core

[31:06] is actually opening the space for the

[31:08] soul to fly free

[31:10] for the soul's wishes to be heard

[31:13] for the soul to

[31:14] [Music]

[31:17] come through and so you can live

[31:19] by the frequency of the soul

[31:22] yet there's a partnership

[31:25] that requires the body

[31:28] and the presence of mind

[31:31] [Music]

[31:41] [Music]

[31:49] wonderful this will be the last time

[31:51] inhale

[31:53] and suspend the pelvis up float the

[31:55] pelvis up

[31:57] and then exhale gently down

[32:02] wonderful

[32:04] [Music]

[32:05] and now let's stretch both legs out

[32:08] nice and straight

[32:11] you're going to

[32:12] now inhale bring the right

[32:15] leg up about 45 degrees

[32:21] and

[32:23] let's go a little bit further down

[32:26] there we go

[32:28] so to

[32:29] [Music]

[32:31] there we go

[32:34] [Music]

[32:39] okay the legs should be two feet off the

[32:41] ground

[32:43] excuse me

[32:44] and

[32:45] this is your right leg the leg is two

[32:47] feet off the ground and you're going to

[32:49] just breathe in this position

[32:52] now feel your pelvis tune into that

[32:54] pelvis region make some adjustment

[32:57] adjustments

[32:59] the leg is two feet off the ground just

[33:02] floating there

[33:03] [Music]

[33:04] and feel the stimulation in the navel

[33:07] center long deep

[33:09] breathing

[33:10] [Music]

[33:18] [Music]

[33:23] [Music]

[33:30] is

[33:38] [Music]

[33:52] so we're really stealing the mind coming

[33:54] back into the breath

[33:56] stilling the body

[33:59] and this is a beautiful thing because we

[34:01] kind of stop chasing around right

[34:04] and we come into the presence of who we

[34:07] are

[34:08] so hold this posture

[34:10] and then just allow

[34:12] allow the universe to come to you

[34:15] to come and serve you

[34:25] uh

[34:27] [Music]

[34:40] all right last 20 seconds of course if

[34:43] you ever need to take a break

[34:45] bring the leg down

[34:46] whatever you need to do but if you can

[34:49] hold the posture

[34:50] continue to do to do so

[34:55] last five seconds

[35:00] wonderful and

[35:01] gently lower

[35:04] this right leg down

[35:05] and gently bring the left leg up

[35:09] two feet off the ground

[35:11] do one side we usually do the other

[35:14] nice long deep breathing

[35:17] once again tuning into

[35:19] your core

[35:20] strength your pelvic region

[35:24] and breathing

[35:30] [Music]

[35:36] [Music]

[35:43] is

[35:52] and as the mind

[35:54] may wander

[35:56] bring it back to the mantra

[35:58] bring it back

[36:03] [Music]

[36:24] oh

[36:25] [Music]

[36:30] you can kind of think of this posture

[36:32] like a pause button you know pause

[36:35] button on the universe

[36:38] the ecstatic crazy up and down this had

[36:41] me left to right should i do this

[36:43] nope i'm just doing this

[36:46] take a pause

[36:48] breathe be still

[36:53] [Music]

[37:05] is

[37:12] beautiful let's make this our inhale

[37:14] together and then exhale slowly lower

[37:16] the leg down

[37:19] take some deep breaths here

[37:27] [Music]

[37:39] and let's bring the knees to the chest

[37:41] and let's rock up and down on the spine

[37:44] rolling up and down on the spine

[37:49] as best as you can whatever your

[37:51] physical capacity is

[37:59] and let's do a couple more rolls

[38:03] i love these rolls they're very

[38:05] delicious

[38:07] nice thing to do for the back

[38:10] and let's do one more

[38:13] and then come sitting up

[38:16] in easy pose

[38:18] or in a chair

[38:20] whatever works for you

[38:21] [Music]

[38:26] now we're going to take

[38:27] the hand again

[38:29] and cover the right nostril with the

[38:33] thumb

[38:34] and you're just going to inhale through

[38:36] the left nostril

[38:38] [Music]

[38:39] and exhale through the left nostril

[38:42] just like that

[38:45] so we're covering the right nostril with

[38:48] our thumb

[38:49] and we're inhaling through the left

[38:51] nostril

[38:52] long and deep

[38:54] and exhaling through the left nostril

[38:56] long indeed

[38:58] [Music]

[39:06] [Music]

[39:12] my

[39:14] [Music]

[39:25] [Music]

[39:34] [Music]

[39:36] me

[39:40] [Music]

[39:51] really we have the capacity within

[39:53] ourselves to

[39:55] [Music]

[39:56] alter our lives

[39:58] through the power of the mind

[40:02] so you can take these moments to come

[40:04] back to

[40:06] the core essence of peace and feeling

[40:09] and

[40:11] intention within your mind

[40:14] with each breath

[40:16] [Music]

[40:22] wonderful now

[40:23] make this your last one last inhale

[40:27] last exhale through the left nostril

[40:30] now take the left hand cover

[40:33] the left nostril and inhale through the

[40:36] right nostril

[40:39] exhale through the left

[40:43] i'm sorry exhale through the right

[40:46] inhale through the right exhale through

[40:48] the right

[40:50] [Music]

[40:53] so covering the left nostril inhaling

[40:56] through the right nostril

[40:58] exhaling through the right nostril

[41:05] [Music]

[41:18] [Music]

[41:22] oh

[41:23] [Music]

[41:38] [Music]

[41:46] [Music]

[41:52] [Music]

[42:07] just breathing long and deep

[42:10] through the right nostrils

[42:13] [Music]

[42:29] [Music]

[42:38] all right beautiful make this your last

[42:40] exhale now you're going to inhale

[42:43] through the right nostril oh keep the

[42:45] left nostril covered

[42:47] [Music]

[42:49] keep inhale to the right

[42:51] [Music]

[42:52] cover the right nostril with your pinky

[42:54] exhale through the left

[43:00] inhale through the right

[43:04] exhale through the left

[43:06] [Music]

[43:12] all right we got this

[43:17] [Music]

[43:20] inhaling through the right nostril

[43:22] exhaling through the left

[43:25] slowing down

[43:30] [Music]

[43:47] is

[43:50] [Music]

[43:58] [Music]

[44:05] [Music]

[44:20] [Music]

[44:25] [Music]

[44:41] [Music]

[44:51] now on this next exhale

[44:56] keep the right nostril

[45:00] um covered and we're going to inhale

[45:02] through the left exhale through the

[45:05] right but wrap it like a breath of fire

[45:09] [Music]

[45:15] [Music]

[45:18] okay we're just gonna be here for a

[45:20] minute if anybody feels light-headed

[45:22] then just

[45:24] take it easy back off a little bit and

[45:26] reapproach

[45:30] [Music]

[45:43] [Music]

[46:03] [Music]

[46:17] [Music]

[46:24] wonderful and now switch hands

[46:28] and inhale through the right nostril

[46:30] exhale through the left breath of fire

[46:32] inhale through the right exhale through

[46:34] the left rapidly

[46:38] [Music]

[46:41] just a minute here

[46:54] [Music]

[47:01] foreign

[47:05] [Music]

[47:16] wonderful

[47:18] release the hand

[47:20] take a deep breath through both nostrils

[47:24] and exhale

[47:26] and just breathe

[48:16] okay let's stretch our arms up again

[48:19] reaching the arms up nice inhale

[48:22] exhale sweep the arms down

[48:26] oh doesn't that feel good let's do it

[48:27] again inhale stretch up

[48:30] and sweep the arms down

[48:34] all right beautiful

[48:36] now please come lying onto your back

[49:11] all right wonderful we're going to

[49:13] now raise

[49:14] the legs up the arms up the head up six

[49:17] inches off the ground

[49:19] arms pointed towards the pointed toes

[49:23] and we're going to begin a breath of

[49:24] fire rapid breath through the nose

[49:29] [Music]

[49:30] okay this is called stretch pose

[49:33] if you need to you can put one foot down

[49:36] you can also bend the knees

[49:39] you can let the head rest on the ground

[49:43] whatever works for you

[49:51] you want to feel a nice

[49:53] energetic at the naval center

[50:00] and do your best to keep the posture as

[50:03] best as you can we're here for about 30

[50:06] more seconds

[50:28] all right last 10 seconds

[50:31] [Music]

[50:36] and inhale suspend the breath suspend

[50:39] the posture concentrate the energy at

[50:41] the navel center

[50:43] ah beautiful and exhale relax

[50:54] [Music]

[51:03] all right

[51:05] beautiful now bring the knees to your

[51:08] chest

[51:09] and wrap your arms around your knees

[51:13] like you're giving yourself a nice

[51:15] hug

[51:17] and

[51:18] now bring the head up between the knees

[51:21] and begin this breath of fire again

[51:25] rapid breath through the nose

[51:28] if at any time you need to let the neck

[51:31] go down you're welcome to do that

[51:34] keeping the intention to come back to

[51:36] the posture as best as you can

[51:39] is always encouraged

[51:41] just do your best

[51:42] we're here just for about 45 more

[51:45] seconds

[52:10] [Music]

[52:15] [Music]

[52:17] all right last 10 seconds here we go

[52:19] here we go

[52:20] [Music]

[52:26] beautiful inhale

[52:29] and exhale release

[52:31] let go of the posture come on to your

[52:33] back

[52:34] some people like to have their heels by

[52:36] their buttocks if there's too much

[52:38] pressure on your back to have your legs

[52:40] straight you can do that too

[52:42] just need to relax

[52:51] oh

[53:01] [Music]

[53:11] and coming back

[53:13] coming back to the mantra

[53:15] back to your intentions for the

[53:18] soul space

[53:21] to be the primary energy within your

[53:24] experience right now

[53:28] [Music]

[53:31] inhale

[53:32] together and exhale

[53:35] bringing the knees to the chest

[53:37] let's do that wonderful rocking up and

[53:39] down on the spine again give some love

[53:42] to the spine

[53:53] and then

[53:54] come on up

[53:57] with your legs extended out straight in

[53:59] front of you

[54:03] you're going to

[54:04] reach down

[54:06] for your knees your shins or your toes

[54:09] and just allow the spine to collapse

[54:12] down

[54:13] onto your legs with nice stretch

[54:27] [Music]

[54:34] just allowing yourself to fold forward

[54:39] elbows approaching the ground

[54:46] head approaching the knees

[54:56] is

[55:24] [Music]

[55:32] we're just stretching the

[55:35] sciatic nerve and the nerve that runs

[55:37] from the base of the spine to the tips

[55:39] of the toes

[55:42] so fold into the stretch

[55:44] and breathe

[55:46] more and more if you feel like oh i can

[55:47] go a little further and go a little

[55:49] further

[55:50] oh i can breathe a little more fully

[55:54] breathe a little more fully

[55:56] allow yourself to expand into the

[55:58] exercise

[56:02] [Music]

[56:13] all right wonderful let's inhale

[56:15] together

[56:17] exhale completely and roll yourself up

[56:21] into a sitting position

[56:25] you can just massage the thighs and the

[56:27] knees and the shins for a little bit

[56:29] yeah give yourself some love

[56:33] [Music]

[56:34] and then now we're going to transition

[56:37] to

[56:37] back onto the back again

[56:40] so bring yourself back onto your back

[56:45] and

[56:46] the legs will be extended out forward

[56:49] we're going to do a modified stretch

[56:51] pose this time

[56:52] we're going to raise the head

[56:54] and the shoulders up arms will be facing

[56:57] towards the toes but that's it

[57:00] the feet will be on the ground and will

[57:02] begin a breath of fire so raise the head

[57:05] up

[57:06] and begin a breath of fire

[57:11] [Music]

[57:13] is

[57:31] uh

[57:46] oh

[58:10] all right wonderful

[58:12] last 20 seconds

[58:21] [Music]

[58:37] all right beautiful inhale in this

[58:39] position

[58:42] and exhale relax down

[58:51] and

[58:53] this time for deep relaxation

[58:56] so you can

[58:58] cover yourself

[59:04] cover yourself with a shawl if you have

[59:06] any kind of chill

[59:08] in the air

[59:12] and just allow yourself to

[59:14] deeply

[59:15] deeply relax

[59:38] oh

[59:56] [Music]

[1:00:08] tonight

[1:00:14] good

[1:00:16] [Music]

[1:00:28] [Music]

[1:00:34] relax the feet

[1:00:38] [Music]

[1:00:53] [Music]

[1:00:55] relax the legs

[1:00:59] [Music]

[1:01:11] [Music]

[1:01:17] oh

[1:01:19] [Music]

[1:01:28] [Music]

[1:01:44] [Music]

[1:01:50] so

[1:01:52] [Music]

[1:02:03] [Music]

[1:02:15] sunlight

[1:02:23] [Music]

[1:02:32] and just allow allow and allow

[1:02:45] [Music]

[1:02:58] [Music]

[1:03:12] foreign

[1:03:15] [Music]

[1:03:23] [Music]

[1:03:27] now

[1:03:38] i

[1:03:54] [Music]

[1:04:06] saturn

[1:04:11] [Music]

[1:04:24] i

[1:04:35] i

[1:04:37] [Music]

[1:04:44] i am

[1:04:46] [Music]

[1:05:06] i

[1:05:10] [Music]

[1:05:21] [Music]

[1:05:25] something new

[1:05:30] [Music]

[1:05:36] that i am

[1:05:39] [Music]

[1:05:45] [Applause]

[1:05:50] [Music]

[1:06:03] i

[1:06:06] [Music]

[1:06:26] is

[1:06:30] [Music]

[1:06:44] i am

[1:06:51] [Music]

[1:06:58] i am

[1:07:16] is

[1:07:18] [Music]

[1:07:35] [Music]

[1:07:39] i

[1:07:51] [Music]

[1:08:06] i am

[1:08:08] [Music]

[1:08:20] i

[1:08:21] [Music]

[1:08:50] now

[1:08:55] [Music]

[1:09:02] i

[1:09:04] [Music]

[1:09:10] [Applause]

[1:09:13] [Music]

[1:09:20] am

[1:09:21] [Music]

[1:09:41] i

[1:09:57] [Music]

[1:10:01] foreign

[1:10:08] [Music]

[1:10:15] [Music]

[1:10:29] in

[1:10:32] is

[1:10:34] [Music]

[1:10:49] i am

[1:10:50] [Music]

[1:11:04] [Music]

[1:11:42] and please inhale

[1:11:47] exhale

[1:11:48] begin to wiggle your fingers and your

[1:11:50] toes

[1:11:55] and then you can roll your wrists and

[1:11:56] your ankles and circles

[1:12:05] and begin to rub the palms and the soles

[1:12:07] of the feet together

[1:12:20] and bring the right knee to the chest

[1:12:22] extending the left leg out

[1:12:25] bring that right leg over to the

[1:12:27] opposite side of the body

[1:12:31] take a deep breath and then exhale as

[1:12:33] you do a final stretch and twist

[1:12:38] and then switch sides

[1:12:45] doing the same stretch on the other side

[1:13:00] bring the knees to the chest and let's

[1:13:01] rock up and down on the spine

[1:13:20] and now

[1:13:21] we'll chant our mantra

[1:13:25] [Music]

[1:13:26] it's in the chat if you're on the zoom

Ardaas means prayer and bha-ee means "it has happened," creating a declaration that the soul's prayer has already been given and offered to the Divine. The mantra also invokes Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das as witnessing presences, culminating in Sachi Sahib, which means truth verified and sustained.
No. While Ardaas Bha-ee draws from the Sikh tradition, Snatam Kaur teaches that the mantra works through its core energetics—compassion, healing, and love—rather than sectarian belief. The specific gurus function as universal healing presences accessible to any practitioner regardless of religious background.
According to the teaching, 95% of resistance to prayer comes from the devotee not actually sitting down and praying. Once you commit to the act and give your prayer, it is heard by the universe. The work is overcoming procrastination and doubt, not earning worthiness.
When you offer your prayer through their witnessing presence, your prayer is held in compassion and healing light rather than judged. This witnessing helps you recognize that your soul is already seen and already truth—not waiting to become worthy, but remembering what you already are.
The practice includes alternate nostril breathing for mental clarity, Venus Lock hand position to contain energy, upright seated posture with a straight spine, and Breath of Fire—a rapid rhythmic breath that generates internal heat and deepens the mantra's cellular impact.
Yes. Snatam teaches the words first to give the thinking mind a bridge into the practice, but then invites you to "forget everything" and go into the direct experience. The soul understands vibrations that the thinking mind cannot translate—the sound itself carries meaning.
Snatam teaches weekly Mantra and Meditation classes every Wednesday at 1 PM through Kirtan and Kundalini, her online school of sacred music and yoga co-founded with her husband Sopurkh Singh. The school offers live and recorded classes, workshops, and learning resources in multiple areas of Sikh Kirtan and Kundalini Yoga.
