Rooted Results Retreat is a five-day wellness retreat at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, led by Cheryl B. Engelhardt. It is built around somatic regulation: learning how your nervous system shapes your habits, relationships and decisions, and how to work with it rather than push through. It suits creative spirits, entrepreneurs, overachievers, wallflowers, anyone making something from nothing, and anyone who isn't sure which of those they are.
What to Expect
The premise is simple: lasting change doesn't come from working harder, but from a nervous system that feels safe enough to choose something different. Cheryl blends somatic practices, guided reflection, creativity, nature immersion and practical life design, grounded in a scientific foundation. The retreat is described as restorative and surprisingly fun.
Through conversation, experiential exercises and plenty of room to breathe, you develop practices to regulate stress, quiet the inner critic and recognize the patterns keeping you stuck. You build a toolkit of somatic and cognitive practices for stress, uncertainty and life transitions. Cheryl also shares her action-taking framework, a practical system for turning vision into aligned action with clarity, intention and sustainability. You leave with a personalized roadmap for what comes next and tools meant for the days when real life gets busy again.
The schedule has a special shape. The retreat opens on Monday evening with a session from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m., after check-in earlier in the day. Tuesday through Thursday follow a steady rhythm of morning workshop from 9:00 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session in the late afternoon, with open time in between. Tuesday ends with a short wrap-up mini workshop, and Wednesday evening is a participant talent show. Friday has a final morning session, with check-out at 1:00 p.m.
About Cheryl B. Engelhardt
Cheryl B. Engelhardt is a two-time GRAMMY-nominated composer and recording artist and a certified trauma-informed coach, facilitator and speaker. A New Yorker, she studied Biology and Music at Cornell University and orchestration at Juilliard, and began her working life in a hip-hop recording studio in New York City. She went on to score films, commercials, choral works and theater, and to write songs, tour and release four pop records of her own, before finding her home in New Age and classical crossover music. Her solo-piano and ambient album Luminary was composed and produced during a composer residency in a half-abandoned mountain town in Greece.
A past attendee, the musician and keynote speaker Val Vigoda, describes the programming as "so smart and well-calibrated," even for people who have done a lot of personal work before.
The Setting
The retreat takes place on Omega's campus in Rhinebeck, in New York's Hudson Valley, with walking trails and optional classes and recreation available to everyone. Those staying on campus choose from several kinds of lodging for four nights, from cabin rooms with a queen bed, heat, air-conditioning and linens, to a dorm single with a shared hall bath, to tent cabins and camping. Tent cabins have no heat or air-conditioning, and campfires, stoves and recreational vehicles are not allowed. Camping has limited availability. People who live nearby can register as commuters. All meals are included for both on-campus and commuter participants.
Before You Go
No prior experience with somatic work, coaching or personal development is needed, and the retreat is open to all levels. It is taught in English. Tuition covers five days of instruction with Cheryl, and meals, campus facilities and parking are part of the on-campus or commuter registration. Travel to and from Omega, personal items and toiletries are not included. Some lodging types ask you to bring your own sheets, towels or sleeping bag, so check the room description when you choose. Your contact information is shared with the faculty so they can reach you before the retreat begins.
