Bodhi School of Yoga — Poingunin, India
A women-centred yoga school and teacher-training academy in Hyderabad, India
Bodhi School of Yoga was founded in 2014 by Acharya Ashok. The school takes its name from the Sanskrit word for awakening, and it began with a plain purpose: to help people reconnect with themselves through yoga, wellness and inner awareness. Its office sits on the first floor of a building in Rockdale, Hyderabad, in Telangana.
Over the years it has grown into a school with studios in four centres across India, plus an online programme. Its founding conviction, in Acharya Ashok's words on the school's website, is that when a woman is empowered through yoga, her entire family, community and future generations benefit. That idea shapes the curriculum. Its teacher-training courses are described as accredited and women-centred, and are rooted in the eight-limbed path of Hatha-Raja Yoga, from yama and niyama through to samadhi.
The school says it teaches pure yoga and ayurveda, without remixes or reinterpretations, across Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin. Its teacher courses include a 200-hour yoga teacher training over eight weeks, a four-week Face Yoga Teacher Training and a four-week Mat Pilates certification, all taught online in English. For students, there are daily live online classes, an advanced yoga and Mat-Pilates session each morning, and a year-long daily studio programme. Short wellness workshops sit alongside these.
The school is registered with Yoga Alliance as an RYS-200 and RYS-300 school, and lists recognition from India's Ministry of Ayush. Its stated ambition is a network of 100,000 internationally certified women yoga trainers by 2030.
