Raquel Jordan first met yoga in 2002, while studying musical theatre in New York City. Each week her vocal coach had her drop into cat/cow while warming up her voice, saying that "accessing the deeper dimensions of the body was the key to unlocking the voice inside." It was the start of a long path.
Since then she has explored many lineages of the yogic tradition, studying and working with leading teachers while living in New York and California. She received her 200-hour certification through YogaWorks, along with certifications in Trauma Informed Yoga and Therapeutic Restorative. Her interests in creative expression, archetypal psychology and neuroscience shape her teaching.
Meditation is a daily practice for her. Her own journey began in 2008 with chanting from the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, and later branched into Nidra, yoga, mantra and somatic meditation. She has taught Yoga Nidra publicly since 2013 and meditation since 2016.
Raquel specialized in Trauma Informed Yoga, working with New Earth, a non-profit that supports system-involved youth in Los Angeles. She also served as the leading yoga teacher at a residential treatment center for women recovering from traumatic events, alongside psychologists and therapists. That work convinced her the practice is relevant to everyone: loss, adversity and change come to all of us, and the question is what stays when everything else crumbles.
Based in California, she brings soulful, yoga-based practices for building resilience to public and online classes, private sessions, corporate clients and retreats. She cross-pollinates varied disciplines to create a dynamic, nurturing space for growth, connection and creativity.
