Equilibrium The Holistic Living Project — 66-68 Unley Rd, Australia
A yoga and recovery studio on Unley Road, Adelaide, built around balance
On Unley Road in Adelaide, Equilibrium The Holistic Living Project takes its name from a working definition: equilibrium, a state where all acting forces are balanced. The studio describes the second half of its name, the Holistic Living Project, as the physical and mental journey of health. In its telling there is no single answer and no final stop. It is a life-long process.
The space holds a yoga studio, a gym, a sauna, an ice bath, a treatment room and a tea room. The studio says it draws on the greenery of nature and uses as many recycled materials as it can. It acknowledges the Kaurna people as the traditional owners of the land it stands on. Teaching sits between tradition and the present day, with traditional teachings met by a modern approach and current research on the body.
The class menu is graded. Equanimity Flow is a Vinyasa sequence for those with some experience. Balance Flow is slower, with postures held longer. Yin, which the studio traces to the Taoist tradition, uses long-held seated or lying postures to work the connective tissue. Evolve Flow gives each month a physical theme for arm-balances and deep backbends. Beginners are pointed toward Balance and Yin first.
The events calendar is more adventurous. SOMA, a one-day nervous system reset, weaves live sound through movement and rest, drawing on Nada Yoga and modern music therapy. Yin + Reiki pairs long floor-based holds with an energy healing treatment. Holistic Circle is a quarterly event for members. An earlier Urban Retreat in the Being Human series ran from noon to seven in the studio, with a courtyard lunch under the vines, a breathwork session and ice baths.
The Illuminate Wellness Retreat has changed location over time. In November 2023 it ran at the studio itself. Later editions, including the one listed for 13 to 16 November 2026, are held at Kings Beach Retreat on the Fleurieu Peninsula, a little over an hour from Adelaide. The program offers nearly four hours a day of meditation, breathwork and yoga, with plant-based meals. The studio is also available for hire.
